Red hearts...paper hearts....flowers...sparkly hearts...candy hearts...teddy bears...cards of sweet sentiment...chocolate hearts...decadent treats. LOVE was in the air.
Valentines Day, a day that traditionally inspires us to be intentional about expressing our feelings to those we care about, was upon us.
Nothing says LOVE quite like these these ooey, gooey, fudgey rich and chocolately, strawberry sweet, candy syrupy, marshmallow creamy, GREAT GOOBLY GOPS :
This treat started with a chocolate cupcake base. Make your own from scratch or use a boxed cake mix.
While the cupcakes baked I diced fresh strawberries and doused them with sugar to begin drawing out some of the juice.
As the cupcakes cooled, I whipped up a creamy, dreamy, absolutely heavenly white cream filling:
2 (7 oz) jars of marshmallow fluff
1/2 cup butter flavored CRISCO shortening
1/3 c confectioners sugar
1/2 t pure Mexican vanilla
After beating these ingredients together, I began to slowly drizzle in some HOT lightly salted water. Keep adding water until a lucious creamy consistency is achieved.
When the cupcakes are cool, slice off the tops. Set them aside while you assemble the GOOBLY GOP. Start by drizzling some of the fresh strawberry juice on the bottom half of each cupcake. Top with a few diced strawberries. Add a heaping spoonful of cream filling. At this point, add the cupcake top.
As a final touch, top with a piped swirl of chocolate buttercream frosting and a drizzled of HERSHEYS strawberry syrup!
GREAT GOOBLY GOPS...these are delicious! A really LOVELY treat.
